There are many challenges that life presents us with and sometimes a team approach is needed to overcome these. Duchene Muscular Dystrophy is one of the most challenging and is not something that many people really understand. Milosz Klimczak faced this challenge and was definitely against the odds when ‘Janiu’ and his team rose to the occasion.

There are many deserving causes and indeed, many innovative awareness and fundraising events, so how could the team be different and capture people's imagination. The answer was to take on a challenge that would be seen as defying the odds. The team would attempt to beat the world record for the longest distance covered on a Diver Propulsion Vehicle or DPV.

In raising awareness and funds to beat these odds Janiu smashed the existing world record for distance covered underwater on a DPV, a superhuman feat. Using a Seacraft Ghost Scooter Janiu covered an incredible 450km.

Although there has been a considerable success from this project in raising awareness and in the initial fundraising, the work to bring the challenges faced by people like Milosz continues. Donations can still be made here www.siepomaga.pl/silacz.

Project Antillothrix is a multi-organizational partnership formed to conduct biodiversity surveys and excavations of paleontological cave sites in the Dominican Republic. Together, researchers and divers from the City University of New York (CUNY), Universidad Autónoma de Santo Domingo (UASD), Museo del Hombre Dominicano (MHD), and the Dominican Republic Speleological Society (DRSS) have documented and collected a trove of vertebrate fossils for study and preservation since the inception of this collaboration in 2011.
